Boo's Fundraiser Feedback, Thursday April 4, 2010

Hello All,

I would like to thank everybody for their generous donations for the Boo fund.

It was heartwarming to see all his friends and fellow sailors contribute to the cause: first to help him in his time of need and then, after his passing, to pay for the expenses and his mother’s care.

From the moment the first email was sent on the Monday, people began to contribute. Boo passed away on the Wednesday and on Friday night we held a fundraiser at the ACYC. There we raised (some of it in pledges) 176,850 Baht. An incredible effort by all who were there!

People who could not make it to the fund raiser T/Td or dropped by with cash from Thailand and many other countries. We collected a total of 134,300 Baht in direct donations.

The total raised was 311,150 Baht.

Out of this, we paid for all the expenses involved in Malaysia and here in Phuket – a total of 115,000 Baht.
With the remaining 195,150 Baht, we have opened a bank account in Ao Chalong, from which we will pay Boo's mother at the rate of 5,000 Baht per month. If any unexpected costs arise for Boo's mother, or she has health problems along the way, we will attend to them using this fund.
