Race Report 12 - Sunday September 27
A clean start and superb winds saw three boats get underway in Race 12 of the Raymarine ACYC series.
Winds of roughly 15 knots greeted the racing enthusiasts, which took them on a modified Course 4 on reaches and beats for the day.
A tight start line was an easy go for the threesome with Mamba, entered for the first time this year, to step off the line ahead of the others with Da Vinci Niña not too far behind. As for the only Mamba in her first ACYC race
Racing class member, Emerald
Blue, she chose to begin the course several minutes later. Humming and hoing without the competition? Ah well, it only required a start and finish to earn her top honours in the class.
Mamba kept and improved upon her early lead rounding Koh Lon and Koh Aei and completing her sausage
to take line honours. Well done in this year's debut! However the scratch boat is relegated to last place, er, second place, in the performance handicap system and she took home the hat, leaving Da Vinci Niña to bubble with the wine.
Otherwise it was an exhilarating sail for the two boats bringing up the rear with a clear sight to the finish.
A great day for all and a thrill to be out!
