ACYC Club Sailing
Race Report 4 - Sunday October 2

ACYC Race 3, September 18, 2011
He who comes wins!
Could it have been the weather? Two boats participated in Irish Times Series Race 4 on Sunday in a course around Coral Island (to port), to the Safe Water Mark at Ao Makham near Cape Panwa, then over the finish line.

The abundance of wind saw Linda clocking 31 knots apparent over deck with Niña spotting 28 knots.

Niña sailed with four current multihull captains – Grenville Fordham, Bob Mott, David Lidell, Roger Kingdon and Yves who is a possible buyer for Pink Lady as well as Alphons Dreissen rounding up the pack as an ex-skipper. All except one took turns at the helm. Roger managed to jam his finger in the fold up tiller mechanism – a feat that over the past two years of sailing Niña, Bob and Gren had no problems with. So Roger has part of a finger missing from a accident of Moto Inzi in a past Langkawi Regatta and now a red inflamed finger on the same hand! Ouch!

As there was no competition in either class, Niña and Linda sailed with headsail and main only. So what did they win after sailing in the most consistent and strong winds of the season under conditions of no rain and pretty much clear skies? A lovely Sunday Carvery each for five guests at Irish Times!!!
