ACYC Club Sailing
Race Report 4 - Sunday May 22

ACYC Race 4, May 22, 2011
Look way up! Skipper Roger Kingdon
checking sail trim on Moto Inzi
Shifting and fickle winds made for both exhiliarating and dull sailing in Race 4 of the Victron Energy Series on Sunday. For the lead boats of the six-member fleet, it was a quick trip around Chalong Bay, however for others stuck in a rut, it was a longer day.

In her first ACYC race of the year, Moto Inzi showed the troops what she's made of and strutted her stuff around the course at a pace that no one else could catch. Is the FireFly just a really fast cat or could it have been the 'rock star' crew on board that consisted of three generations that earned her victory in Multihulls? Owner/Skipper Roger Kingdon enjoyed the assistance and company of his son and three-year old grandson(!!) who was so content with the sail he slept during the heat of the action! Now, how can you beat that? Meanwhile, the 'big boys' on Silk Purse were left to bring up the rear, finishing second in Multihulls for the day.

In Racing, Babe took the lead over Minx and Linda from the start and finished well ahead of them. Minx crossed the line second in that class with Linda crossing well afterwards after having been stuck in a pocket of little wind for a long period of time. With no competition in Cruising, Chetak enjoyed an easy sail to first.

A great day on the water with more to come!
