Race Report 1 - Sunday August 21

Zhuka in her first ACYC race

Race 1 of the Irish Times Series saw nine boats out for a play in Chalong Bay. Light winds from the northeast and east - unseasonal for Phuket this time of year - under sunny skies offered the conditions for which participating yachts had to negotiate. Although most were able to finish the course in reasonable times, several didn't finish. (Mind you, they still had a great day out!)

A fleet of five multihulls that included Sidewinder, Niña, The Frog, first-time ACYC participant Zhuka and DaVinci and regular sailors in Racing, Som Tam Express and Linda faced a haul up to the Ao Makham mark followed by sausages. Cruising, although following a shorter course, found light winds toward the end of their race. Iruvai and Chetak, finished the day with a race to the finish line under engine!
