ACYC Club Sailing
Race Report 2 - Sunday April 10

ACYC Race 1, March 13, 2011
Linda fast on the move... to second!
Varying winds as well as a route not properly followed for one boat provided for some emotional ups and downs in Race 2 in the Victron Energy Series on Sunday with the fleet of six following an around-the-island course that finished with a sausage in Chalong Bay.

First off the line in the downwind start was the catamaran Sidewinder, which sped off to take line honours in a no contest win against Niña, her sole competitor in Multihulls. The real battle of the day was between newcomer Linda and long time ACYC racer Emerald Blue. Although Emerald Blue achieved the better start, Linda soon passed her and led around Koh Bon reaching the channel markers six minutes ahead of her rival when she stopped sailing and began to pack her wardrobe. With Emerald Blue sailing past and gesturing to move forward, Linda resumed the route although now trailing the good-natured crew of the ketch, but finished almost nine minutes later. Downer of a first time out! Meanwhile, the remaining boat in the class, Simone, finished a distant third, suffering from the effects of a dirty bottom. The only boat in Cruising, Chetak, sailed a comfortable yet good race to complete the course.

A good day with spinnakers gracing the bay and under mainly sunny skies!
